Hai Nguyen has been roasting and brewing something exceptional in Charlottetown.
The first P.E.I. woman entrepreneur to be certified as WBE Canada (Women Business Enterprise Canada), Nguyen has been raising the bar with international coffee industry ethics and sustainability. Her company, The Shed Coffee, percolated from a clear vision of ‘thoughtful, passionate coffee roasting’ blended with Prince Edward Island’s cultural flavours, creating spaces for coffee lovers to enjoy social connection and local artistry.
In addition, Nguyen has sought ways to support and promote women’s contributions in the coffee industry. That motivation inspired the Koolbrew canned coffee product line, which uses coffee beans from women-led farms. Nguyen’s passion for specialty coffee in Canada and on the East Coast reverberates through her wider industry involvement. In 2022, she served as community coordinator for Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Canada and is a leader with the local SCA chapter.
